    4 indispensable things on Christmas day

    Christmas Day is an annual festival to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. There are so many things we have to prepare before the Christmas Eve and here are four things which we consider indispensable.

    Christmas or Christmas Day, as known as Noel or Xmas, is an annual festival to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. In some countries, people celebrate Christmas on 25th December, while the others celebrate it in the evening of  24th December. There are so many things we have to prepare before the Christmas Eve, here are four things which we consider indispensable.

    Christmas Wreath

    The Christmas wreath is made of a circle of evergreen branches then they usually decorate it with pinecones and a red bow. The wreath will be laid on the table with four candles. The circle of the wreath symbolizes the eternity and endless love of God. The green colour itself shows the hope that Christ will come and save people. Four candles consist of three purple candles - the colour of Hope - and a pink one - the Gaudete Sunday's colour.

    Roast Turkey: In the 16th century, an Italian explorer named Sabastian Cabot brought turkey to England. Though the cold weather in England doesn't suitable for the turkey, however, roasted turkey is still a popular dish for the English dinner on Christmas Eve.

    Pudding is indispensable on Christmas party. However, the pudding nowaday is much more different than before. In the 15th century, pudding was made with plum, wine, veal, bread crumbs, herbs, onion, vegetables and dried fruits. During the 16th century, people stopped using vegetables and meat. In the 19th century, the ingredients and taste of the pudding were pretty similar to nowadays pudding. People even hid some beans or pennies inside the pudding. Eating a piece of pudding with bean or penny inside was believed to be a sign of luck.

    Yule Log (Buche de Noel) : On ancient Yule festival, people had to prepare a large log to burn in the fireplace for 12 days to celebrate the return of the Sun God. If the log all burnt down before the end of the festival, it would be a sign of bad luck. 

    Nowadays, on Christmas Day,  we have yummy chocolate log cake instead of a real log.
