    How to get from Ha Noi to Ha Giang

    Hanoi is about 320km from Ha Giang and thanks to new road development, it is quite easy to reach Ha Giang from the capital.

    Travel by coach

    From Hanoi, you may easily call a taxi or xe om to travel to My Dinh Station. When you arrive, come inside to buy a Hanoi – Ha Giang ticket with a cost of VND130,000-150,000 for standard seats. Travelers who want to save time and seek for more comfort may consider buying bed ticket (VND180,000/ ticket). This coach departs from My Dinh at 21:00 and then arrives in Ha Giang in the next early morning.

    Travel by motorbike

    Travelers who want to challenge one’s adventurous spirit may hire a motorbike in the Old Quarter and buy a good Vietnam map for the trek to Ha Giang. There are two routines you might select:

    • Routine No. 1: Hanoi – Vinh Phuc – Viet Tri – Phu Tho – Tuyen Quang:

    This routine is popular and preferred by many travelers but quite crowded of vehicles.

    • Routine No. 2: Hanoi – Son Tay – Trung Ha Bridge – Co Tiet – Phong Chau Bridge – Phu Tho – Doan Hung – Tuyen Quang:

    From Thang Long Highway, go straight until you reach Highway No. 21 and then follow it to Son Tay (remember to turn right before you reach the overpass). Then, pass Trung Ha Bridge in Son Tay to get Co Tiet. When you arrive in Co Tiet, go for another bridge named Phong Chau and go along the riverside road (Road 320) to Phu Tho.

    From here, continue your journey on National Highway No. 2 until you reach Doan Hung, and then Tuyen Quang. Passing Tuyen Quang City, you would return to Highway No. 2 and follow the route Ham Yen – Bac Quang – Vi Xuyen – Ha Giang City. This second routine is 30km longer than the first one.
