Themed “Origin of the homeland cake”, the festival will feature 100 stalls displaying a wide range of cakes originated in southern region. Meanwhile, the remaining 100 stalls will showcase staples of other localities across the nation.
According to Le Van Tam, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee and head of the festival’s organising board, the event aims to introduce the south’s traditional cuisines to both domestic and foreign visitors.
Activities held within the event include a traditional cake making competition and performance, a singing contest on southern cuisine and cakes and a conference on traditional cake preserving and packaging technology.
Relevant authorities in the city must work to ensure social order, food security and environmental hygiene, Tam noted.-VNA
